Playing Gheorghe Zamfir's Doina De Jale in the deepest of Yorkshire's Dales stirs something within nothing else can. Only Vaughan Williams, to my mind, comes anywhere near with his Thomas Tallis. Zamfir's music is not to everyone's taste but it grows on you. I often think the music of Rumania is lost peoples of the West so have added this page to the Webfooted Travellers in hope more will visit, if not in person then it's music.
